Winning team for the weekend were the Bev’s Bashers
Another good roll up made the makings of a great tournament at the Tallebudgera Leisure Centre. Four teams with 10 players in each gave each contestant 15 games for the weekend.
The organisers arranged to play on the old courts, (Court No.3) as complaints with lighting and floor characteristics were received during last year’s event.
Day one commenced with some minor changes to the draw with replacements brought in for Ulf and mysef due to injuries. Chris McKenzie was also brought in for the Sunday event because of another player pulling out after the Saturday’s event.
At the end of Saturday’s play, Bev’s Bashers was the team who were leading by a reasonable margin and no doubt were the ones to watch when play kicked off the following day. Maria’s Marauders put in a valiant effort as they equalled the top score achieved by Bev’s Bashers the previous day . BB’s team on the other hand lost their consistency and came home with a lower score but good enough to win by a 35 point margin.
As play finished early it was decided to run a round of Cross-Over games matching skill level against equal skill level. Some great badminton was observed on all levels and it was a fun way to finish off the tournament.
The social dinner, which was held at the Talle Surf Club was well attended with total of 16 players whiling the evening away with good conversation and reflections on the day’s play.
Final point scores acheived by each team were as follows:
1st Bev’s Bashers 2138 points,
2nd Maria’s Marauders 2073 points,
3rd Sangel’s Slashers 2067 points and
4th Klaus’s Killers 2034 points.
See you all at the Redlands PCYC on the 8th of July.
