One week out before the re-scheduled tournament and we were wondering if this was going to be another non event. Fortunately the weather turned for better conditions and all systems were go. Number of entries was a little less than the original scheduled event of 45 but with 40 players we were able to come up with five teams of eight including a bye for each team. A few late cancellations saw some minor adjustments to the draw but having a few people on stand by certainly helped to solve those mimor problems.

At close of day on the Saturday the resulting scores indicated that the Boomerang team was the one to watch out for when play was to resume the following day. They brought in a very consistent result for the three rounds they played and trying to rein them in to stop them from winning by a large margin was the order of the day for the Sunday’s event.

As usual Saturday night saw a few of the members socialise over dinner at the Nambour RSL club and with the changes that have taken place at this club it is a pretty good venue for a great meal and music.

With the humidity quite high during Sunday morning’s play condensation on the floor became of some concern but an extended lunch with the doors to the hall wide open solved the problem and games for the rest of the day presented no problem.

As predicted even with a bye first up the Boomerangs were definitelty the stronger team for the weekend and romped home with an 89 point lead to take out the tournament. Well done to all their members who obviously worked very hard to achieve this result. Miranda Tas who was part of that team has taken out the Gong for this event by bringing home the highest point score for the weekend.
