9th – 10th November 2019
What a great turnout for the last tournament of the year. Unfortunately we didn’t get off to a great start when we couldn’t access the Hall til 15 minutes before starting time of 11.00am on the Saturday morning but we managed to fit in all the games as we played to 25 points again.
The courts must have had a facelift since we last played there as the walls were white which made them a bit glarey and hence a bit hard to see the shuttle at times, and the cafe was closed as renovations were being done at the entrance, so not quite the place we were used to. The weather was pleasant, which is not always the case at this time of the year, as it can be quite warm, so players were feeling much more comfortable.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the tournament just the same and also the Saturday night social dinner. There were a few different venues for dinner, but that was probably a good thing as there were quite a few people and it made it easier to fit everyone in.
Results were close again, with 37 points between first and second and 30 points between second and third. With so many new players who are an unknown quantity, the teams were pretty well balanced. Ricky’s Ralliers won with 2437 points, Bruce’s Bashers second with 2400 points, Bev’s Backhanders third with 2370 points and Anne’s Attackers coming fourth with 2225 points. Crossover games were again incorporated into the rounds and were popular as always. Some very good games were seen over the course of the weekend.
If you want more of the same, come to Nambour February 15 and 16, 2020. Don’t forget the AGM is also held at this tournament, so if you want to get involved in the running of tournaments, here is your chance to get onto the committee.
See you there!
