After a complete washout and non event at Nambour last February it was good to finally get together again for a great weekend of badminton. To top it off we had an excellent number of entries which resulted in 5 teams of 10 players each. Included in this makeup were 6 new players and from all accounts they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We look forward to seeing them again sometime in the near future. The weather certainly proved to be very kind for the duration of the tournament with temperatures in the mid 20s. It certainly helped those players who did not have a bye on the Saturday as it turned out to be a long day with a 9.00am start, a limited lunch break and the last game for the day finishing at 6.15pm.
About 20 players gathered at the Burleigh Bowls Club for our usual Social Dinner. Good food, a great band and all the aches and sore joints were soon forgotten by those that danced the night away.

The Winning team the Easter Bunnies with a point score of 2258.
Sunday was another great day of badminton and after lunch it soon became evident that the Easter Bunnies and Good Fridays were the teams having a good old tussle for first and second place. As is normal for the first tournament of the year players were asked to stop what they were doing at midday to take part in our Annual General Meeting. Preliminaries out the road and nominations were taken for establishing the new committee for 2015. Ulf and Amanda decided to not stand again for their positions so the new look for 2015 is as follows:
President – Phil Pycroft, Vice President – Errol Vickers, Secretary – John Ursem, Treasurer – Lynda Massey, with general committee members Simone Edmondstone and Graham Kiff. A sincere thanks go to Ulf and Amanda for the effort they put in during their time on the committee. Congratulations are aslso in order for their recent engagement. We all wish them well for a bright and happy future.
