Once again 40 players seems to be the magic number. Four teams of 10 with no byes set the wheels in motion for the 2nd last tournament of the year. A number of “One Day” players made up the makings of the draw but fortunately players of equal ranking were found to fill the vacant slots.

As this was a new and untried venue, conditions were an unknown factor. It soon became obvious after play commenced that daylight glare coming through the floor to ceiling windows positioned in each corner of the hall was going to present some difficulties to see the shuttle properly on one of the courts. Some players also found the line markings a bit confusing which also took a while to get used to. Photography with all that glare also proved to be a bit troublesome

Good halls for daytime tournaments are unfortunately few and far between and it does limit our choices of venues .

It was good to see a large influx of new players, 7 in total, and all indications were that most enjoyed the format we presented . To sum up, the Backstabbers took out the honours for the weekend and they certainly were a force to be reckoned with as the scores will indicate.

1st place Backstabbers with 2610 points, 2nd the Mutineers with 2454 points, 3rd the Traitors with 2373 points and 4th the Turncoats with 2292 points.

Back to Nambour for the last tournament of 2018. See you there! New lighting and new mats. Should be great.
